According to the K-State Research Extension Facility in Johnson County, homeowners and business owners that have ash trees in their lawns in Overland Park, Leawood, Olathe, Prairie Village, Mission Hills and other surrounding cities could have a troublesome inhabitant. The Emerald Ash Borer bug is a quickly spreading problem in Johnson County and more specifically it’s ash trees. The bug literally attacks any and all species of ash trees and has been now been found in trees in Overland Park, Leawood, Olathe, Prairie Village, Mission Hills and other lawns in the area.
The Emerald Ash Borer is considered an invasive insect in that can damage our lawn’s natural environment and the beauty of both city and country trees. The insect (if present) will bore holes into ash trees and ultimately make them into its nest for future Emerald Ash Borers and you will more than likely notice a difference in the health and look of the trees in your lawn.
